Exotic Cars in India

Exotic, in the Indian context, means a car that is rare here rather than merely fast — a limited-run Lamborghini, a manual-gearbox Ferrari, a track special with a build number. These cars trade privately, quietly, and mostly on relationships.

What counts as exotic here

Because volumes are so low, cars that are ordinary elsewhere become exotic in India. A handful of examples nationwide is normal for a model that sold in the thousands in Europe.

  • Limited-series cars: Lamborghini STO and SVJ, Ferrari Pista, McLaren 765LT.
  • Manual-gearbox exotics, now effectively out of production.
  • Pre-2000 classics, subject to vintage import rules.
  • One-of-one bespoke commissions from Rolls-Royce and Bentley.

Sourcing and import

Some cars can only be found abroad. Fully built imports attract high customs duty and must meet homologation requirements, so the landed cost needs modelling before you bid, not after. We prepare a full landed-cost estimate — purchase, freight, duty, homologation, registration — so the number you approve is the number you pay.

Provenance is the asset

For collector cars, documentation is a large part of the value: build sheet, ownership chain, original specification, service record and any factory correspondence. We will not present a car we cannot document.

Frequently asked questions

Can I import an exotic car into India?
Yes, subject to customs duty and homologation rules. Duty on fully built high-capacity cars is steep, and separate provisions apply to vehicles over 50 years old. Model the total landed cost before committing to a purchase abroad.
How do I find a rare car in India?
Almost never through public listings. Rare cars move through a small network of owners, dealers and specialists — which is the network we work in on your behalf.
